A Journey Through Photography

The talk will take the viewers through the stages of my life as a photographer. I will cover early beginnings and background info, my interest in fine art photography, freelance and teaching career, images of what I do every day as a news photographer and my travel imagery which will someday become a book. The talk will have some humor and be very visually interesting and informative.

Cynthia Delaney is a photographer and writer living in Elko, Nevada. She attended New England School of Photography and has a Master’s degree in documentary photography from Lesley University.

Cynthia has been a photography instructor at Great Basin College for 15 years. Her work there has included everything from building a high quality darkroom, establishing the digital photography courses and creating web based classes. She has taught black and white photography, nature photography, digital photography and a host of workshops. Cynthia revamped the travel program at GBC and has led students to China, Turkey, Greece, Italy and Switzerland.

Cynthia now leads private tours around the world. Her current tour is going to Spain and Portugal in June. Future trips include New Zealand and Scandinavia, excellent places for photography.

Cynthia has been a freelance photographer for 20 years. She worked as a part-time correspondent for the Elko Daily Free Press for 14 years and is currently employed full time with the newspaper as a photographer and writer.
