Having studied Graphic Design in India, Kippy Spilker graduated with a BA in Art and a BS in Communication from Western Michigan University, and worked professionally in print media since 1995, Kippy is currently the Art Director for Nevada Magazine and comes at photography primarily from a design perspective. A self-proclaimed jack-of-all-trades, master of none, she dabbles in photography of almost any subject, having had photos featured in National Geographic’s Daily Dozen, on book and magazine covers, and in various online and print articles. She and her husband are passionate kayakers, and are currently working on a much-improved Volume 2 of “Scenes From a Kayak,” a book of taken-from-the-water photography published in 2010. Combining their love for photography with their love of being in the boats, they custom-built wooden kayaks with a well designed to house camera gear in a pelican case. Always chasing the next big adventure, she and her husband became FAA Part 107 certified drone pilots in July 2017 and are enjoying learning a new way of seeing the subjects they photograph.
