Astrophotography (2 day class)

This class will build on basic landscape photography techniques, teach you how to take that process into the field and successfully shoot at night. We will cover planning, shooting and post-processing techniques both in the classroom and out in the field.  Specific topics will include: very long single exposures, multiple exposure blending/compositing, light painting and dark frame subtraction.  In this two-day, two-night, multiple-session class you will gain the experience you need to explore the wonderful world of shooting at night.  Welcome to the darkness!

Walk About Winnemucca (with Stacy Pearsall)

The Walk About is just as it sounds – it’s a photographic journey alongside Stacy Pearsall. Students will go on-location where they will explore the environment around them and learn to see in new ways. Stacy will discuss pre-visualization, composition and approach. After, she’ll demonstrate and execute. Students will have the freedom to explore, visualize, compose and shoot on their own while Stacy floats around. This experience challenges students to conceptualize and be creative.

It’s Called Photo-Graphy: Breaking Out of Ordinary Picture Taking

This class explores the principles of image composition and design, from color to lighting, and explains how anyone can boost their photo-graphy to new levels. Regardless of how expensive a camera you own, there are proven techniques to getting images with more impact and visual appeal. What works, what doesn’t. Topics include subject analysis, optimizing the light, lens choices, color theory, visual psychology, and how to break the rules at the right time. Relevant for landscape, portrait, travel, nature and commercial shooters.
